Vortex Con gurations on Mesoscopic Cylinders with Square Cross Section

چکیده
Recent developments in the nanofabrication technologies brought new interest into the study of mesoscopic superconductors [1, 2]. Consequently theorists went back to discuss many problems that could have been solved long ago if the motivation existed before. The con nement of vortices in samples with sizes of the order of the coherence length produce interesting e ects such as the onset of giant vortices and meta-stability, properties not found in pure systems on the bulk. For this reason such small scale superconductors have become of general interest [3, 4, 5].

Cylinders with Square Cross Section: Paths to Turbulence with Various Angles of Incidence
The path to turbulence in the wake of cylinders with square crosssection is investigated by means of direct numerical simulation, employing a two-dimensional spectral element method and Floquet linear stability analysis. The critical Reynolds number for the onset of the three-dimensional instability modes A, B, C and QP are reported for cylinder incidence angles between 0° and 45°. The Strouhal...
متن کاملFlow and flow-induced vibration of a square array of cylinders in steady currents
Flow and flow-induced vibration of a square array of cylinders are investigated by two-dimensional numerical simulations. Flow past 36 cylinders in an inline arranged square array and 33 cylinders in a staggered arranged square array is firstly simulated, for Re=100 and the spacing ratios of L/D=1.5, 2, 3, 4, 5. Only one vortex street is observed in the wake of the cylinder array when the spaci...
متن کاملExperimental study of the aerodynamic noise radiated by cylinders with different cross-sections and yaw angles
Vortex shedding from cylinders has been extensively studied due to its occurrence in many engineering fields. Many experimental studies reported in the literature focus on the aerodynamics of the vortex shedding process but the literature about the radiated noise is more scarce. The aim of the work presented here is to extend the available noise data. Aero-acoustic wind tunnel tests were carrie...
متن کاملPhysics-Based Flame Dynamics Modeling and Thermoacoustic Instability Mitigation
The objectives of this work are (i) to investigate the coupled unsteady heat release mechanisms responsible for thermoacoustic instabilities under di erent ame anchoring con gurations, (ii) to develop reduced-order models to predict the dynamic ame response, and (iii) to develop passive instability mitigation strategies by modifying the dynamics of the ame anchoring zone. The two di erent ancho...
متن کاملTriple Diierential Dijet Cross Sections at the Tevatron
We present the triple di erential dijet cross section measured at the D and CDF detectors at the Fermilab Tevatron collider at a center of mass energy of 1.8 TeV. The D experiment presents this cross section as a function of the transverse energy (ET) of the two leading jets, where the jets have been ordered in descending ET, for di erent con gurations of the pseudorapidity ( ) of the two jets....
